We went Thursday morning to see Dr. Sweeny. We went in the the ultra-sound tech first - she asked if we wanted to find out the sex of the baby. When we said that we did, she tried everything. She went about her business of measuring the head, arms and legs - along with the belly. She pointed out certain body parts but the ones we were most curious about remained behind closed legs. She had me roll this way and that, lay on one side while she left the room - Eric had me laughing and we thought for sure that would change the baby's position - but no luck. It was still curled up with crossed ankles. She was able to tell us that the baby weighed 11oz and was measuring 19 weeks instead of 18 - Big baby!
When the doctor came in, he asked if we wanted to know the sex. I told him, "Yes, but good luck - she tried for 15 minutes and couldn't see anything." He smirked and said "Oh, I bet I will be able to figure it out." He poked and prodded along my belly and was able to see that there were no abnormalities with the baby's spine and that the heart looked fine - he had no reason for concern. He did say that when I returned in 4 weeks he will be able to get a closer look at the valves in the heart and be able to rule out any heart complications. That is GREAT news!
After awhile he gave up on trying to get a good look at the baby's bottom and said that he would know for sure in 4 weeks - he promised... then he asked if I wanted to know what he thought the baby was... YES!!! He said, "I think it's a boy." I asked, "What percentage certainty are you?" "80%" I joked that that wasn't good enough and reminded him that with Pacey he said I could go ahead and register. He said, "Don't go register yet, I will be able to tell you for sure in 4 weeks."
So, we think we are having a boy... we'll just have to wait and see - I go back to see Dr. Sweeny on May 15th.

Well Connor Family, Uncle Bryan and Aunt Summer are thrilled with the news of the latest addition to the family! Pacey Leigh is an absolute joy and we know the new baby will be as well. The prospect of a boy is also quite exciting, especially from the Uncle and Aunt that have seven neices, but the truth is that we will love, love, love this baby regardless of the sex! Besides, we are good at girls! Anyway, can't wait for the arrival of "Baby Connor"....love to you all!
Wow--just think, soon we'll have a new little baby to love! I'm anxious to hear what Dr. Sweeney has to say next time--in the meantime, I'll be looking at lots of little blue outfits and planning next month's purchases! Love, Grammy
That is so exciting. I hope it is a boy. But we will love this new baby just as much.
