It's a Boy!

We went back to see Dr. Sweeny on Thursday. We took Pacey with us and she was very excited to see the baby on the "TV". I am sure she expected to be able to actually see the baby, not just the black and white images of the ultrasound. Once we pointed out the head she would say, "look, see that circle, that's the head!" The technician poked and prodded around and had me lay on my side again in hopes of getting a look in between the baby's legs. She was about to give up when she said "Oh, yep, its a boy!" She said it so quietly that I wasn't sure Eric even heard her but he had. He told Pacey and she instantly got sad and said that she wanted it to be a girl. When Dr. Sweeny came in he looked at the heart and said that everything looked great. No signs of any diabetic complications. He said that every time we come back, he will get an even better look at the heart but that he has no reason to suspect anything to be wrong. YAY!!! Sweeny asked me if we knew what we were having, I told him that the tech thought it was a boy and reminded him of his 80% certainty before, then he said "well, now it's 100." He looked at Pacey and said "It's a boy!" Again, her shoulders dropped and she was sad, he just laughed... She got over it by the time we got to Mom and Dad's - she ran out back and told them "Mommy's going to have a boy!"

We went last night to Babies-R-Us and created a registry. It was so much fun, it made everything seem so real... now we just need to come up with a name... any ideas?

Updates...

OK, so I have realized that I am not so good at posting on this blog... I am sorry.

I went to see Dr. Buckson this afternoon. My blood pressure was great (110/60) and I have finally started gaining weight... up 4lbs. My blood sugars have been pretty decent lately - although it is getting more challenging to control them... my insulin levels have gone up but that is to be expected.

Dr. Buckson told me that my belly was measuring 4 weeks further than where I am... when I saw Dr. Sweeny 3 weeks ago - he said the baby was measuring 1 week further... I am hoping he is right... I would have to assume that an ultrasound is more reliable than measuring my belly... I go back to see him next Thursday so we will see.

I talked to Dr. Buckson again about when I can expect to deliver - she said that she and Sweeny tend to disagree on the issue - she says 37 weeks, he says 38... so it looks like either the end of August or early September.

I started feeling the baby move about a week ago - very exciting... I told Pacey that I could feel the baby moving and she ran over and put her hands on my belly - so sweet - I told her that she couldn't feel it yet but that soon she would be able to, then I shared with her how she used to kick me so hard that the remote control, resting on my belly, would jump.

I think we will take Pacey with us to our next ultrasound appointment - she is very curious about whether it will be a boy or girl... she keeps picking out clothes for the baby, "I think your baby needs this" she'll say. She is very excited, we will be walking along and she will say, "Mommy, I love having babies."

On a totally different note, Puppy Jack is doing really well - he has doubled his weight since we brought him home, he is almost 2lbs. I know that doesn't sound like much but imagine if you doubled your weight in 1 month...yikes!

He is no longer that sick little puppy that slept all day, he is a wild boy who loves to terrorize Lottie, Kitty, and anything else that moves... like your feet, hands, etc... He went Monday for his second round of vaccinations. He was a bit more brave this time - last month he screamed like a baby for about 5 minutes and we couldn't touch him for 3 days without him yelping. This time, however, he bounced right back. He is also doing pretty well with house training. He almost always pees or poops when we take him out and is going longer in between accidents in the house... we'll get there.
